How much does a private Europe van tour really cost?

The day rate, explained
From €750 per day you get the van, your dedicated driver, and the freedom that defines the whole trip: your route, your pace, your stops. The rate varies with the season, the route, and how many days you’re on the road — longer trips get better daily economics.

The per-person math
A van is a group price, not a ticket price. Seven people on a five-day trip from €3,750 works out around €107 per person per day for private transport and a driver-guide who speaks your language — before you’ve compared it against seven sets of train tickets, airport transfers, and day-tour buses.
The table below is the same arithmetic for the trip lengths families ask about most, at the from-rate. The driver’s hotel on nights away from Paris is added as a line item in your quote, so read these as the transport floor, not the final number.

A worked quote
Say a family of seven wants eight days: Paris to the Alps, then Italy as far as Florence, flying home from there. Eight driver-days at the from-rate is €6,000 for the van. Your driver sleeps away from Paris for seven of those nights, so seven hotel nights for the driver are itemized on top, at cost. Fuel, tolls and parking are already inside the day rate. What your family pays beyond that is your own hotels, meals and tickets — the same as any trip.
That is the whole quote. There is no per-person surcharge, no fuel adjustment, no fee for the lola who needs the front seat. When the group fills the van, the per-person number gets closer to a train ticket with none of the platforms.
Versus a package tour
Package tours from Manila bundle flights and hotels, and they have their place. What they can’t offer: stopping because the lavender field looked too good, skipping the museum nobody wanted, a merienda break exactly when the group needs one, and a driver who is yours — not shared with forty strangers on a coach schedule.
